When you receive a cancer diagnosis, it’s only natural to feel a range of emotions – grief, anger, fear, and sadness, just to name a few. Caring for someone going through a cancer journey can be equally challenging.
Everyone has different emotional responses at different stages, so whether you just need to talk with someone about how you’re feeling today, you’re welcome to join a group of others who are facing the same journey, need similar support adjusting, and are feeling overwhelmed by emotions. We are here to listen and provide peer support.
Our SCSS team will assist you in finding support resources such as:
- Support groups for families, individuals, and children.
- Peer-to-peer support.
- Patient & hospital visits (only provided as per COVID-19 guidelines).
- Phone calls & messages.
- Gifts of support (i.e. a blanket to stay warm during treatments).
Though our volunteers and staff are not certified counsellors, we all have a cancer story. If you feel that you’d benefit from peer support, don’t hesitate to Contact Us. If you are in crisis, please call (204) 326-8571.
