Children’s Hope Fund

The Children’s Hope Fund is a heartwarming program that offers support for children in southeastern Manitoba facing cancer.

Whether it’s assistance with a financial struggle, resources to assist with education, a favourite toy, a memorable family experience or a chance to meet a hero, Children’s Hope Fund brings support, joy, comfort, and lasting memories to brave young fighters and their families during a difficult journey.

Eligibility Criteria

Before submitting a referral, please review the following eligibility requirements:

Age & Location: Children under the age of 18 living in the southeastern Manitoba region served by Southeast Cancer Support Services (SCSS).
Diagnosis: Active cancer diagnosis.
Who Can Refer: Referrals may be made by anyone, with prior approval of the family involved. They cannot be made anonymously.

Every child and family’s needs are unique—just like their journey. Children’s Hope Fund offers meaningful, personalized support to meet emotional, physical, intellectual or financial needs during a challenging time. Examples of supports may include:

Memorable Experiences – A fun day out at a favorite attraction or special experience with the family. Enjoy a sporting event, concert or production or meet someone they admire. (limited travel, upon approval)
Educational Supports – A laptop for homework on the go, tutoring services or other resources to help ensure they don’t fall behind while in treatment.
Home & Environmental Supports – Transforming their space into a place of peace, play, or healing. This could be a bedroom makeover, installation of needed in-home supports or anything that will make their home a more healing environment.
Comfort & Care Items – Equipment or supplies that make daily life with cancer a little easier, a favourite toy or other comfort item.
Family Assistance – Assistance with specific issues or challenges facing the family as a result of the cancer diagnosis.

We work closely with families to determine what supports will be most beneficial to their child and family.

How the Process Works

Each Children’s Hope Fund referral is reviewed individually by a committee to ensure the support offered will be meaningful, appropriate, and achievable. We work closely with the child and their family to assess their needs and determin the best solution for their situation.

Applications are accepted based on available funds and resources, so while we aim to fulfill as many needs as possible, our ability to do so depends on the generous support of our community.
